Last January we had the opportunity to get some exchange students from Brazil. They come here on an exchange program through a school called Internexus. The kids come for about 3 weeks. They stay with host families, like us. They take the bus to school in the morning. They have English class from 9-12 then in the afternoon the school takes them on field trips. (they go to Park City for shopping and skiing (in winter) and they go see the Jazz, Temple Square and to the movies - and lots of other fun things. - The summer group went to Moab for the weekend.) So we provide food for breakfast and lunch so they can make it themselves. Then I cook dinner and they eat with us. It is a great program for the kids, they get to learn English and have lots of fun in the process!
It is great for us to learn about other people and Brazil. :o)
We got 2 girls: Rey and Pricilla. We had a great time.
We went to Hill AFB to the plane museum. PG got to see the SR-71 for the first time...of course he doesn't really remember this time because he was about 6 weeks old.
This is Pricilla with PG
and here is Rey with PG
Here is the 2 of them on Antelope Island. It was soooo cold, but we did get to see Buffalo.
Having the girls was a good experience but t wasn't always easy, having two new people in our house from a different culture. So we really had to think about it when they called and asked if we would do it again.
We decided to do it again but this time with boys. So in July we got 2 boys (still from Brazil) Elder and Thomas. It was a hot summer so they didn't get to see snow (they love to see snow, since they usually haven't seen it before!) but we really enjoyed the time that they were here. We did a lot of fun summer things. They were here for the 4th of July, so we partied and watched fireworks.
Right after they got here we went for a little hike and picnic in Little Cottonwood Canyon. We had lunch on a big rock after crossing the scary pipe over the river.
Thomas had to write about his most memorable experience for his english class and he wrote about how scary it was crossing the pipe.
They LOVED playing with PG. and PG loved playing with them!
He even learned how to crawl while they were here.
PG on Elder's head!
PG drooling on Thomas!
After their last day of school we went to ID. We had the Pabst family reunion and they were here with us so they went. They thought it was cool because they got to go to more than one state while here. This is us putting up our tents at Grandma's house.
We had a great time with them. We hope they enjoyed their time here too.
Well, it is January again and they called us again and we said we would take 2 boys....
well we ended up with 4 instead! :o)
Franco, Gabriel, Rodrigo and Vini!
They are a great group of boys. It is crazy to have 4. The house is always hopping and we love having them.
So, stay tuned for the adventures that are sure to follow! (they have only been here since Monday.) So far PG LOVES to interact with them! which is always a good thing! So far a biggest challenge has been fitting the 4 of them with PG and I in my 5 person car! :o)
PG wanted to say Hi to you too! :o)
